Hi everyone! It was great to see many of you in Thailand, and we are more eager than ever to welcome you to our great city in August.
Things here are in full swing. Please click where indicated to register!

A new year has rolled in and our team is working harder than ever to bring you an amazing general assembly this summer. Our sponsorship team's fundraising efforts have brought in over 78,000$ euros so far! This brings us ever closer to making Montreal AM 2010 a memorable GA.

In other news, registration dates have been finalized.

Registration opens March 21 (early and late).
Early registration closes April 18.
Late registration closes May 16.

Ottawa: Historic, cultural and academic

With a splash of pomp and pageantry, Ottawa, one of the world’s most beautiful capitals, extends a warm Canadian welcome to more than five million visitors each year. No longer just a “government town,” Ottawa has evolved into a cosmopolitan capital of appealing neighbourhoods with many interesting sights, sounds and tastes. Take a tour of Parliament Hill and see North America’s only changing of the guard. Critique famous Canadian works of art at the stunning National Gallery. Or drop by the ByWard Market, Canada’s oldest operating farmers’ market, to taste a mouth-watering BeaverTail.

Moreover, as our nation’s capital, Ottawa is host to the headquarters of several national medical organizations, numerous NGOs, two of the country’s top universities, and several research institutes. This endowment of world class experts makes Ottawa ideally suited to host a pre-GA that will set the standard for academic content for years to come. Our team hopes to showcase many of our medical community’s local initiatives and talents through numerous engaging speakers, an NGO Fair, and a three day workshop dedicated to the conference theme.

The Delta Ottawa Hotel and Suites: Business and Pleasure

The pre-GA Organizing Committee has worked tirelessly to find the best accommodation and conference venue for our IFMSA delegates. We are proud to announce that we have an official agreement with the Delta Ottawa Hotel and Suites, an outstanding four-star establishment with international standards in comfort and service. The Delta Ottawa is located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, a few blocks away from Parliament Hill, Spark Street, the Rideau Canal, and the historic ByWard Market.

We have reserved 50 rooms with quadruple occupancy, allowing us to welcome 200 participants. This number is tentative and can be adjusted once registration opens. The spacious rooms come equipped with high-speed internet and offer all the luxuries of a first class hotel to ensure our delegates enjoy their stay in our nation’s capital.

To facilitate our workshops and events in comfort and style, our team has reserved the Delta Ottawa’s spacious meeting and dining facilities in their entirety. This will give our guests exclusive access to this ideal venue, as well as provide our partners with maximal visibility opportunities for the duration of the conference.

Winter still hasn’t shown us its true colours out here but it’s already November and that means that AM 2010 is less than 9 months away! And you might say this baby is a little further along; we have now confirmed a total over 50,000 euros is sponsorship support, with a notable contribution of 10,000 CAD from Dalhousie University in Eastern Canada! Please refer to our newly updated Sponsorships & Partners page, where you can view our list of sponsors according to their level of sponsorship. Our sponsorship team is working relentlessly to find more sources of funding and another progress report will be available in the next few weeks. Montréal AM 2010 is officially registered as a non-profit organization in the province of Québec under 59e assemblée générale d’IFMSA. In other news, our website is now fully available in French, très à la Montréal indeed!

The IFMSA Assembly choses Montréal to host August Meeting in 2010!

Dear friends, we would like to thank you all for the incredible support you have shown during the crazy week in Ohrid, Macedonia! Our team worked really hard for an entire year to present you with the best that Canada has to offer. We feel proud and honoured to welcoming you next August in the beautiful cities of Montréal and Ottawa. The IFMSA-Québec and CFMS-Canada delegations worked day and night (wearing the same red t-shirts all week!) to promote this great Congratulations also to the Indonesian delegation who put up an excellent bid and we hope to visit Bali one day! Rest assured that the moment we set foot back on our continent, we started working and phoning and emailing and fundraising! The Organizing Committee is excited about the upcoming year and will be updating you regularly on all the developments with Montréal AM 2010. Joining forces : IFMSA-Québec partners with CFMS-Canada to bid for host of AM 2010

Hello everyone,

We hope you are all doing well and getting ready for Macedonia! We have an interesting update for you regarding our bid for the August Meeting 2010. We're delighted to announce that IFMSA-Québec will be partnering with CFMS-Canada to propose a joint bid for the General Assembly in Montreal, Québec, Canada. CFMS-Canada will organize and host the pre-GA in Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, and also share responsibility for fundraising, meeting promotion, and greenification initiatives.

We are very excited about this Canadian collaboration and look forward to seeing all of you in Macedonia!

Dear IFMSA friends,

On behalf of IFMSA-Québec, I would like to thank you all for the amazing GA in Tunisia! Once more, we will all keep long-lasting memories of the intense week we lived together. Our ties across the world just grew stronger again!

I would like to congratulate the Organizing Committee on an impeccable, organized, and thoroughly enjoyable GA! We appreciate your time, effort, and commitment (and all the surprises at the social programs)! Great job everybody!

On that note, I want to remind you that IFMSA-Québec is presenting its candidature to host AM 2010 in the amazing city of Montréal! We already started our promotional campaign in Hammamet, and believe me, the March Meeting just inspired us to work even harder on our bid!
